Emerging from a research lab at the University of Illinois, Mammoth Trading PBC was founded by two agricultural economists who share passions for water, rocks, and fieldwork. Neither aspired to be entrepreneurs—Nick Brozovic, a professor of economics, was a career academic and Richael Young, a graduate student at the time, had envisioned a 9-5 job for herself.
Oddly enough, it was the National Science Foundation that convinced them otherwise. After eight grueling weeks in NSF’s Innovation Corps program, Richael and Nick had met with hundreds of farmers and water managers, traveled thousands of miles across America’s roads less traveled, and ready customers.
Mammoth Trading was founded in 2014. Since then, we have served hundreds of America’s food producers, helping them manage their water assets cost-effectively. Our smart markets reduce transaction costs of water transfers and employ a fair price discovery mechanism, increasing access and equity in the marketplace. Our water tracking services help farmers manage their allocations, submit regulatory documentation, and quantify water savings. Our workshops and seminars help water users, managers, and professionals understand the fundamentals of incentive-based water management.
We work diligently everyday to provide unparalleled service and insights to our customers. Let us know how we can help you.
